PSYCRETS ~ British Society of Mystery Entertainers welcomes applications from
both professional and competent amateur mystery performers internationally.
We are a purely private, not-for-profit and non-denominational society. We have no association with any organised form of occult practice, and operate a tolerant policy of non-discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, political views and any other category of social identity.
The strength of in our Society lies in the diversity of members backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, interests, and talent. Our past successes and future hopes lie in our common bonds of interest and fellowship in the development, performance, and discussion of mystery entertainment philosophy and techniques, along with a wealth of associated topics.
Aims & Objectives
The Society aims to provide a formal space at least annually for mystery entertainers to share ideas and enhance the art of mystery performance. To that aim we sponsor a 'Tabula Mentis' event in the UK which includes lectures, discussions of effects, methods, tools of the trade, and the business side and trade in member products.
On qualification of membership, each member receives :
- Special membership card and lapel badge
- Quarterly printed digest 'PSYCRECY'
- Free promotional listing on our public website (not compulsory)
- Access to members only web pages and a closed Facebook group.
- Reduced rate access to Tabula Mentis, plus discounts and other bonuses relating to mystery entertainment products.
Further benefit features are in the pipeline.
Levels of Membership
An annually reviewed probationary award which is for those mystery entertainers gaining experience or yet to demonstrate satisfactory contribution to the craft. .
The transition to Full membership may be achieved through demonstration of inclusion of a routine/effect in a printed or digital media publication or full product release, performance video or equivalent evidence. Alternatively a written application may be accepted for committee review, which is subject to a three month decision period.
Full membership is granted to mystery performers with a demonstrated record of achievement in the craft.

Our highest level honorary award. In recognition of his lifetime of achievement in the world of magic, mentalism and mystery entertainment.
The Phoenix Award : Chancellor of Mystery (Nov 2013)
In recognition for his dedication and commitment in the co-founding and development of PSYCRETS British Society of Mystery Entertainers.
Banachek, Docc Hilford, Enrique Enriquez, Scott Grossberg, Sheila Lyon, Christian Chelman, Guy Bavli, Lior Manor, Prof B.C., Marc Salem and Luke Jermay.

Renewal is requested annually in July/August by email reminder and may be made either via PayPal button or cheque.
Membership renewal will not be requested from newly qualified members if their start date is within three months
Any member that fails to renew their membership within two months of renewal request will be considered lapsed and not be able to re-apply for membership with PSYCRETS for a period of 12 months. Those unable to pay should advise the Committee
Any member that fails to renew their membership but subsequently wishes to re- apply will have to follow the same process as a new applicant, including payment of administration fees
EXPECTATIONS OF mEMBERS

New Member Application Policy
The minimum age acceptable for membership consideration is 18.
Each applicant is requested to pay PSYCRETS the amount of £10 upon submission of a membership application form. This is a non-refundable amount to cover the time and administration cost involving each new application received.
PSYCRETS will acknowledge receipt of each new member application form; decisions will be made known to the applicant within 28 (twenty-eight) days of application. This ensures the committee ample time to review, consider and process each application appropriately.
Successful applicants will be required pay £45 for the first year of membership. This is to cover the cost of the membership materials subsequently supplied by PSYCRETS.
Every new member will be granted “Associate Member” status for a minimum period of twelve months, with the exception of the applicant being a known personality such as: Television persona, Author of book/s or DVD’s on the subject of mystery entertainment or the originator of known effects.
After a twelve month period an Associate Member may apply to the committee to be considered a “Full Member".
We appreciate that all information on the application form is submitted to us in confidence. Be assured that this will only be used to fulfill our membership requirements and to communicate with you. At no point will any information provided be disseminated for the gain of the Society - and may only ever be disclosed in the exception of a request as part of a legal enquiry.
